The European Commission has been supporting several projects currently contributing to the European and global preparedness activities to public health emergencies. Among the mentioned projects, BioExcel Centre of Excellence focuses on developing applications which can be used for large-scale virtual screening of potential medical compounds such as small molecule drugs and antibodies.
In addition, to boost urgent research into the novel coronavirus outbreak, seventeen research projects were shortlisted for funding, which aim to contribute to advance the understanding of the novel coronavirus and contribute to efficient clinical management of patients infected with the virus.
