What personal data we collect and why we collect it

BioExcel partners and GDPR

Different activities within the centre are handled by different consortium partners. In cases where data is handled solely by a given partner, the data protection procedures are applied according to the rules of the latter.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

We may use contact forms to collect information regarding your interest in participating in events organized by BioExcel. E.g. submissions of abstracts for conferences, contact details for training events etc. The information is collected solely for the purpose of the respective event. In aggregated form the information may be used to report to the Centre’s funders the extent to which the events have been successful (e.g. number of applicants, actual participants etc.).

Mailing lists

BioExcel maintains several mailinglists (hosted on this website) which are used to notify subscribers about notable developments in the center, product and service releases, relevant training and networking events and other information of interest. The mailinglists are opt-in. By subscribing to a mailing list we collect the following information: Email address; Names; IP Address; Newsletter opens, clicks, and opt-ins.
