The EXDCI (European eXtreme Data and Computing Initiative) project has started in September 2015 to coordinate the development and implementation of a common strategy for the European HPC ecosystem, and foster collaboration among the key players in the HPC ecosystem, including the Centres of Excellence (CoEs), the exascale projects and the FETHPC projects.

On September 29-30 in Rome, EXDCI organized a workshop with representatives of all the exascale initiatives in Europe, including BioExcel. The two day event helped participants to understand better each others domain of work and goals, and thus find ways for future collaborations.

BioExcel was also appointed as a leader of the “Life Science & Health” workgroup in the EXDCI project in order to analyze the impact of exascale computing in life science aspects of the society, economy and welfare state.
